4/16/2023 0 Comments Zip code of escolta manila![]() The name “Escolta” comes from a road that ran from Intramuros’ northern flank across the Puente de Espaa and veered right or east toward Santa Cruz. The bridge was built one block downstream from the original location of the older bridge. The new bridge’s construction began in 1916, following Juan Arellano’s neoclassical design. Jones Bridge connects Escolta to the southern bank of the Pasig and Intramuros, replacing an earlier bridge, Puente de Espaa, which was damaged by floods in 1914. ![]() Both Escolta and Chinatown are bounded by two esteros, or brooks, that flow into the Pasig River: the Estero de Binondo to the west and the Estero de la Reina to the east.
